Heritage Greens Community Development District located in Naples, Florida is a local, special purpose government entity authorized by Chapter 190 of the Florida Statutes, as amended, and created by ordinance of Collier County as an alternative method of planning, acquiring, operating and maintaining community-wide improvements in planned communities.
The District is bounded on the north by Immokalee Road, (County Road 846), by the Laurel Oaks Elementary School, and Gulf Coast High School; on the east by the proposed extension of Logan Boulevard, on the south and on the west by agricultural lands.
The Heritage Greens Community Development District provides the local governmental services and maintains the public infrastructure except for the sewer and potable water systems which were dedicated to Collier County when completed. Originally developed as the Dove Pointe Community Development District in July of 1993, the name was changed to Heritage Greens Community Development District when it was turned over to the residents in 2002.
A Community Development District (CDD) provides the "solution" to Florida's need to provide valuable community infrastructure generated by growth, ultimately without overburdening other governments and their taxpaying residents. CDDs represent a major advancement in Florida's effort to manage its growth effectively and efficiently. This allows a community to establish higher construction standards, meanwhile providing a long-term solution to the operation and maintenance of the community's facilities.
